Apparently, discussing WorldCon 76 and the tremendous mess they’re currently in on twitter has involved me in a bit of a conversation. Really, nothing like this has happened to me before. I’m pretty amazed. Of course, it’s more than just the WorldCon issue involved, so just for giggles, I’m posting a screen capture (actually, several merged together) of the entire dialog. I didn’t know what to say, so thus far, I haven’t responded.
The conversation continued once I expressed a few concerns to Bill Stewart regarding the current objectivity and validity of the Hugos. He was pretty invested in assuring me that this publisher-based award was as impartial now as it always has been barring some intervention by the Sad Puppies. Not sure how far I should take his word or even who he is, but he seemed like he was trying to be reasonable. Anyone know this guy?

As of this morning, a whole lot of people I’ve never heard of have commented on how the Hugos work and criticized me for questioning their validity. This was after I decided to respond to one of them. Big mistake, Grievous error. The twitterati descended upon me like (polite) locusts. I’m not going to further engage them. They’ve made their point and, as far as I’m concerned, that’s the end of it.
