The best way to gain a proper perspective about life is to visit a cemetery.
You might have many problems, but that is part and parcel of being alive. Compared to those buried in the cemetery, just how serious are your difficulties?
Learn to have a sense of proportion to events. If you fail to do so, you might react with equal levels of distress to someone’s spilling soup on your clothes as you would to news of the outbreak of global nuclear warfare.
Today, when something bothers you, ask yourself: “On a scale of one to 100 (with 100 applying to nuclear war), what number would I give this situation?”
You’ll find with this perspective that many potential mountains will easily shrink to molecules.
Rabbi Nachum of Huradna used to say, “If I had already died and the Almighty told me I could come back to life again, imagine how happy I would be. Now that I am alive, I should feel that same joy!”

I remember a “Peanuts” cartoon where Lucy and Charlie Brown were at the famous fence of conversations and Lucy asks Charlie Brown if he could live his life again, what would be his reaction. Charlie brown asks her, “You mean exactly as I did?” (misquote). Lucy says Yes what would be your reaction. With this, Charlie Brown screams and runs away. Your quote at the end made me think of that.
I have died (NDE) and returned after facing in my mind the gate or hallway to the next phase of our life. It was not unpleasant and not scary, so I can honestly say I am not afraid of death. Dying is a different matter. That can involve pain, even agony, and all types of loss. That is harder to deal with. However, I guess if you asked me your question, with 100 as nuclear war, then even death scores lower on that scale. I had a student once ask me where I want to be if a nuclear war starts. My answer had them all thinking. I told her I want to be right underneath one of the bombs. I don’t really know if I could bring myself to not try and live, but you get the point – gone in an instant.
