If you like my work, buy me a virtual cup of coffee at Ko-Fi.

I know I just announced my space opera serial Our Legacy, The Stars: A Tom Corbett Adventure last week, but I wanted to give everyone an update.

To test the Kindle Vella platform for the story, I clicked the Follow button. So now I’m “following.” It didn’t ask me to sign up or for any money. I didn’t get any email announcements or anything. However, when I clicked the URL to the serial today (as I write this), I saw that episode 2: Flight to Freedom had been published yesterday (Saturday, April 13th).

I clicked on it expecting to get a “pay me” notice, but instead, I got the second chapter. The first chapter’s still there as well. I clicked on the second chapter and it was immediately available to read.

So far, I’m doing all this on my home computer rather than a tablet or phone but please stand by.

There are two IMPORTANT things to know if you read these stories:

  1. At the bottom of the story, you can click on the “thumbs up” for any individual story.
  2. Also at the bottom, you can leave a comment about the story

So since you can read these stories for FREE, please:

  1. Click Follow
  2. Read them
  3. If you liked the story, click the “thumbs up”
  4. No matter if you liked it or loathed it (or anything in between) please, Please, PLEASE leave a comment

Still baffled about no notifications after clicking follow, I turned on my own Kindle Fire hoping to see something automatically come up. No such luck. In fact, somehow the Amazon Silk browser was up but showing nothing familiar. I had a struggle backing out, but once I did, I still didn’t find any reference to following my serial.

I searched and it did come up saying I was already following it. I was prompted to read episode 2 and clicked on the button.

THEN, I was prompted to enter my Amazon password. I did and the system sent my email a confirmation code (delays, delays). I received and entered that and THEN I could read the story. There was a Follow Story button which I pressed, so now I’m following the story again.

Since I wrote the story, I skimmed through it noticing the thin interface seems optimized for a tablet although it can be read on a PC (and presumably a phone).

Since I had to sign into my Amazon account NOW maybe I’ll get notices.

If you scroll further down on the serial’s main page, you can still leave a review (for the whole book, I guess) just like any other Amazon product.

This looks like your golden opportunity to get in at the start of a great (in my humble opinion) serial space opera, just like the old school science fiction tales of yesteryear.

P.S. Leave a comment on the stories. Pretty please?
