Cool books are coming on sale for one week and you don’t want to miss out.
The 2025 edition of Summer Based Book Sale will run from July 30th to August 4th. This year the focus is “based books for men.”
All books featured on the sale will be priced from 99 cents down to FREE and available for download from Amazon onto your Kindle device (it’s possible some paperbacks will also be part of the sale).
I’ve known L. Jagi Lamplighter for some years now (online) and she’s responsible for publishing a number of my fantasy short stories in various anthologies including “The Price” in Fantastic Schools: Volume Six.
I responded to her “Do Men Read” survey on X/twitter and followed up by reading her Do Men Read? substack.
It’s often believed that men don’t read or don’t like to read, and because of that perception, bookstores don’t stock books for men thinking they wouldn’t sell.
The real problem is finding books that men want to read.
Our 21st century entertainment culture, or at least the gatekeepers thereof, don’t often produce material that traditionally appeals to boys and men. The entertainment industry has been far too busy tailoring books, TV shows, movies, and even comic books showing men from the perspective of progressives. or the left or, dare I say it…”woke.”
It’s as if they’re trying to reprogram young men to accept being less than masculine or something.
Hence the book sale. Each and every one of the books being offered are tailored for the male reader. This doesn’t mean the heroes are knuckles-on-the-ground dragging, raw meat eating, woman violating barbarians. It does mean that the stories are written where masculinity isn’t toxic and where men don’t have to be either evil or weak in order for women to be strong.
I’ve arranged for two of my books to be in the sale:
Our Legacy the Stars: A Tom Corbett Adventure is based on the 1950s TV show, but the character backstories and science has been updated to make them more credible (there’s no way Astro could have been born on the surface of Venus). It’s a classic space opera that takes Tom, Captain Manning, and the crew of the Polaris from investigating a disaster in the clouds of Venus, to the Moon, Mars, Saturn, and then to the stars. In their search for an evil they thought had been ended decades ago, they risk death both in interstellar space and at the hands of a possible traitor on board.
Our Legacy the Stars: A Tom Corbett Adventure will be priced at 99 cents for the sale.
Ice is my only self published book and is set in Earth’s far future where the heat has melted every last bit of ice. The topography of our planet has been radically changed, and thanks to the manipulations of a mischievous “god,” so has civilization and life itself. Magic exists and so do dinosaurs. Ki-Moon Yong, Captain of the sailing ship “Star of Jindo” undertakes a dangerous mission at the bottom of the world. Another trading vessel has mysteriously vanished after visiting an ice-less Antarctica. In learning of that vessel’s fate, they discover a terrible danger awaiting both them and all mankind. It’s the passing of one era into another. Can Yong and the Jindo survive raptors, sea storms, giants, and worst of all, the end of their way of life?

Ice will be available for FREE for the sale.
I’ll post more about the sale as it gets closer but I promise this is something you don’t want to miss.
BONUS!
This isn’t part of the sale, but when working with Starry Eyed Press on reducing the price of Our Legacy the Stars: A Tom Corbett Adventure, they let me know that two of their anthologies will also be priced at 99 cents. They aren’t part of the “based” sale, but I bet you’ll want to take a look at them anyway, especially since one features a short story of mine.
Definition of Glory is part of their “Galactic Treks” series, a group of novels and anthologies written in the spirit of shows like “Star Trek,” old school space operas full of adventure and excitement. “Definition” recounts the adventures of Captain Benjamin Cole and the starship “Argetium” as they face threats in space both from without and within.
Existential Hologram: A Science Fiction Anthology is a collection of short stories that question the fundamental nature of reality. From simulation to cybernetics, artificial intelligence to avatars, “Existential Hologram” reminds us all that while consciousness may be the only certainty, entertainment is fuel for thought. It features my short story “The Simulated Woman.” Kennedy Willow Ashe is a young virtual game designer who at first thinks she’s become lost in her own creation. But even escaping the game, nothing in her life seems real anymore. Has she lost control of her virtual world or are there other forces manipulating her for their own purposes?
I hope you’ll take advantage of these sales to add to your science fiction and fantasy collections and to experience some excellent stories you might otherwise have missed.
It’ll be worth it. Happy Summer Reading.
