The fantasy anthology Fantastic Schools Familiars is now available from Amazon in Kindle format (the paperback version will come out in a week or so).

It features my short story “Dead Cat Fever:”

Daphne Tate is an unusual fifteen year old runaway. To keep her mother from shipping her off to a traditional magic school, she left to join a group of disenfranchised sorcerers-in-the-rough led by a would-be Fagin with a powerful occult tome and a cat familiar.

One day, Daphne returned to their hovel on the outskirts of Barstow to discover that the book had been stolen. Everyone there she knew and loved had been brutally murdered including the cat Skinner…well, the cat’s body. Skinner is the spirit possessing the cat’s now rapidly decaying corpse, which technically makes him a zombie familiar.

The book has come into possession of a magic user who plans on using it first to take over nearby Los Angeles and after that, everything else. Without the book, once the cat’s body falls apart, Skinner is trapped in the corpse forever.

To save Los Angeles, but more importantly, to rescue Skinner, she joins forces with the familiar to chase down a wizard she has no hope of defeating magically. She has to try anyway.

Contains stories by Declan Finn, Denton Salle, Ben Wheeler, and many others (and I’m glad I got cover credit on this one).

Go over to Amazon purchase and download a copy to your Kindle device right away (or wait a week or so to buy a paperback).

You won’t be sorry (plus my stories need all the love and support they can get).

Thanks.
