“I told you I’d only come to dinner with if you wouldn’t take pictures of your food like the paparazzi chasing a movie star!” Ed was on his feet fuming at the four other people sitting around the table.
“Look,” started Martin, “I’m sorry. I just forgot.” He tried disarming Ed’s temper with a shy smile. “Just let me get in this quick shot and post it to Bluesky.”
“That’s it!” Ed reached behind him and under his jacket producing a really nasty looking .45 semi-automatic pistol. He aimed it right at Martin’s smartphone starting the Food and Selfie Wars.
It’s Wednesday and time again to participate in this week’s edition of Rochelle Wisoff-Fields’ Friday Fictioneers. The idea is to use the image at the top as the prompt for crafting a poem or short story no more than 100 words long. My word count is exactly 100.
Oh, for crying out loud, more photos of food? Look, I’ve been known to take frivolous photos with my phone, but there comes a time when enough is enough, even if the dish seems rather unique. I decided to take that feeling to the extreme and this is what came out.
To read other tales inspired by the image or to contribute a story of your own, go to inlinkz.
While my novel “A Wobblegong and His Boy” is sitting at just seven ratings, the latest review was something special. It was from Amy’s Bookshelf Reviews & Podcast and among other things, she said “what a hidden gem” and “a captivating adventure that delivers both excitement and thoughtful exploration of identity and responsibility.”
That’s pretty cool and from a very objective source. You can read the rest of the review and see where to get my book by going to Amazon.

That escalated fast!

I think he just got fed up with the whole “I’ve got to take photos of my food and put them on social media all the time” thing. 😉
