I know as a conservative, religious person, I’m supposed to have a totally “clean” sense of humor, but I wasn’t always the “Boy Scout” who is now blogging here. I’ve been considering a number of images I’ve collected over the past few days, some of which I’ve peppered all over Facebook, twitter, and here, and I thought I’d share them in one place, with commentary, of course.
Oh, if you’re easily offended, you might want to skip this one.
So, without further ado:
Not too many people like Donald Trump, but you’ll have to have read Margaret Atwood’s novel A Handmaid’s Tale or seen the Hulu television adaptation to know why this is funny. I’ve read and reviewed the book, but will probably never watch the TV show.
Last February, filmmaker Michael Moore called the NRA a terrorist organization, but this photo, taken during the shooting of his 2002 film “Bowling for Columbine” appears to show Moore holding a camera in one hand and a shotgun with another. I thought it was hysterical. I’m sure it was “shopped,” but I found it funny anyway.
This one made me laugh out loud. Look, I know the guy is probably sincere, but somehow, I think a protester loses at least some credibility if their protest makes them look absolutely ridiculous.
I’ve been a Star Trek fan since I was 12 years old when the show debuted on 8 September 1966 (52 years ago tomorrow), and if it were possible for a television series like this to come about (and it can’t because Patrick Stewart turned 78 in July and Paul Winfield died in 2004), I’d pay good money to see it.
Last week, I visited my Mom in Southwestern Utah. The evening I arrived, we went out for Thai food and our water was served with plastic straws. Given all of the plastic straw angst in California, I took this photo and plastered it all over social media. I enjoyed my water and my meal (and, of course, Mom’s company).
Every time I see this one, I can’t stop laughing. Okay, so I’m dropping an “F-bomb” here, and I can imagine not everyone will find his humorous, even though Mattis is an incredibly notorious badass and a lot of veterans love him, including my son who also served in the Marine Corps. I know it’s supposed to be racist to negatively comment on Colin Kaepernick’s business relationship with Nike, but the memes just keep rolling in, and some of them are pretty funny.
Speaking of which…
This one might take a bit of explaining if you don’t know who these two women are. The woman on the left is Tonya Harding and the woman on the right is Nancy Kerrigan. Both are former U.S. Olympic skating champions and were fierce competitors back in the day. Harding was alleged to have engineered an attack on Kerrigan designed to break her right leg. This happened on January 6, 1994, and the assailant hit Kerrigan with a baton just above her knee (which is why these two women are relevant in this meme). The details are here, and yes, given a certain point of view, I can see why this is could be considered in poor taste, but believe me, I wasn’t the only one who thought it was funny.
Bizarro is a really offbeat comic strip I read every day along with a number of others, and while I think this is funny, I also believe that if more women carried firearms (we have both concealed and open carry laws here in Idaho) and kept them for home protection, a lot more men would get what they deserve.
I took this last Monday afternoon. My wife and I took our grandchildren to a local water park, and afterward, we stopped for frozen yogurt. The SUV with this sticker on the back window was in the parking lot. Given that Idaho is a red state, I commonly see “Blue Girl/Red State” stickers on cars, but this is only the second time I’ve seen a “red girl/red state” sticker. I find them hysterically funny.
I know, I know. Some of you might think I have a pretty sketchy sense of humor, but these are actually fairly tame. My son David hooked me up with the “Dysfunctional Veterans” Facebook group, and there are times when I’ll just scroll through what these vets post laughing my tail off. Oh yeah, they’re outrageous, but sometimes you’ve just got to laugh.
Love that Ofputin image, although technically it should be “Ofvlad” or “Ofvladimir.” You should watch the TV version of The Handmaid’s Tale. It’s actually pretty good, although it can be slow moving at times.

Hey. When you make your own meme, that’s what it’ll say. I don’t create them, I just post them. Being underemployed, I don’t have a lot of extra money to pay for television, and in the end, I probably won’t cater to what I’m sure is nothing more than low hanging “I hate Trump” fruit. Besides, as I said before, the chances of anything like this becoming any sort of reality is non-existent. For the last few nights, I’ve either been watching the “Captain America: Winter Soldier” movie or old school “Star Trek.”

The Star Trek reference hits close to home.
The wife and I watched that very episode just last night (yeah we are binging… again)

It’s a great episode and a great series.

As for Mr Winfield… did you not see the episode? Of course he died.
If the Enterprise crew hadn’t tried to beam Mr Stewart off of Tanagra, the good (alien) captain might have had a chance of surviving.
– but maybe I am reading into the show too much. haha 😁

No, I mean the actor died. He played in the original Terminator movie and in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Kahn. Great actor.
