Here’s what you can expect from my short story “The Demon in the Mask:”

Andre Paul LeClair was an orphan, an infant found on the steps of a monastery. Raised in the midst of Priests and Nuns, he grew to be an intelligent, charming boy, and then a handsome, bewitching man. Coming to the attention of a sinister Cardinal, LeClair was whisked away to remote mountain Chateau. Trained for a decade by soldiers, spies, and courtesans, he was honed to be the perfect instrument of assassination. His target, the secret ruler of the Kingdom, the Princess and witch Katia Asa Vajda. But when the moment came to liberate a nation, would he kill the princess, or fall in love with her?

My short story “Retired” can be found in the Hellbound Books horror anthology The Toilet Zone. In this case, the title refers to the average amount of time a person sits on the “facility” while reading something.

87-year-old Leslie McLean woke up in the hospital screaming. Her son Dan reassured her that the experimental surgery to reverse her dementia was successful. She would regain her memories, her ability to think and feel like a younger, competent person again. As time passed, her memories did return, but there was something else. Who was the donor of the brain material used to augment her own, and why did Leslie start to have horrific memories of killing and eating human beings? Why did those memories make her feel so good and so…hungry?

My short story “The Devil’s Regret” is featured in the Zimbell House Publishing anthology 1929, which includes a number of tales in multiple genres, all set in the year 1929.

Sixteen-year-old Timothy Quinn grew up in New York’s Hell’s Kitchen, working as a “printer’s devil,” an apprentice in a newspaper print shop since age twelve. One day, the teen and would-be boxer starts hearing strange news announcements on the radio that seem to come from the future. Then he learns that in the next seven weeks, a ten-year-old girl will be kidnapped, murdered, and eaten by a notorious serial killer. No one believes his wild tale, so he sets out to confront the killer himself, but will he succeed in saving the life of an innocent child only to sacrifice his own?

“1929: A Zimbell House Anthology” is now available at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
