I apologize for the inconvenience, but for the foreseeable future, I’m going to be moderating every comment made on this blog. I had to do this some years ago on a companion blog to keep conversations civil, but events have occurred that have resulted in me making that same decision here.
I’m sure if you’ve been reading this blog for any period of time, you have realized I can be opinionated, and as fair as I want to be, as much as I want to provide a platform for all voices, occasionally one comes along that crosses the line. I bear some responsibility for creating the situation, but this seems the only decision I can make to correct it.
No, I’m not perfect. Far from it, but at the end of the day, I’m still the blog owner and as such, I do set the rules. What this means in a practical sense is that even if you have commented here many times before, every time you do so from now on will require that I manually approve the comment. This works out well pretty much all of the time, though it might slow things down occasionally.
At whatever point I feel I can, I may open things up a bit, but for my own peace of mind, right now, I’m playing things closer to the vest. Thank you in advance for your understanding.
Had to do the same on my blog for awhile. I recently relaxed the restriction, once certain people got the hint.

Yeah. This is actually partly my fault because I disagreed with another person who has strong convictions. On the other hand, I’m not going to be censored on my own blog.

Trying to be the first one to get a comment approved 😉 As you know, back in the heyday of blogging (2006-2014, in my case) I had a widely read blog. Setting comments on “owner must approve” became a necessity. Two places people get the ugliest: behind the wheel and commenting on blogs.

You and I both know that blogging about religion is pretty much a minefield.

I guess this was to be expected as the range of topics discussed shifted from where you started in this blog with the nature of robots, and even robotic “spirituality”, onward to other sci-fi and the politics thereof, and into other political matters. That last is always good for a bit of incivility. Regrettably, some folks seem to respond robotically, echoing the statements of others, regardless of their irrationality or falsehood or thoughtlessness. Independent thought, rational thought, challenging thought, calculated on a basis of verifiable evidence and reasonably-projected outcome, must seem hard to come by sometimes. Well, we may continue to wish for better, and strive for better.
Nonetheless, I’ll take this opportunity to wish you and your family a “g’mar ‘hatimah tovah”, a final seal of HaShem’s approval for the new yearly cycle that has just begun.

To you and yours the same, my friend.

No problems here. It’s perfectly understandable. And it is your house, so to speak, so your rules. 🙂
