You can now preorder the ebook edition of our 5th Spring Into SciFi. This series has been very popular over the years and we are excited to introduce a lot of new members to the Cloaked Press Family. Our release date is set for March 21st, 2022.

This year, my space opera short story “Tiamat Descending” is included in the collection. Here’s a small sample:

“Screw that,” Speirs pulled Leigh forward again. “We’ve got to get off the ship.”

“Someone already did.”

“Right Cap. The missing SSV. There are seven more.” They moved forward deliberately avoiding the Manual Control Override to their right. The closest two ships hadn’t been touched.

“Leigh, were all the Warden’s guarding Gracie?”

“I don’t know, Captain.”

A surge of movement in the darkness. They were ambushed by dozens of Wardens vomiting from the SSV 01 Jemison hatchway.

“Captain, get Leigh out of here.”

The nearest Warden ignited an acetylene torch and another spun up a circular saw. Then in a single motion, the rest pounded their metaphorical plowshares into swords, using their tools to try and take Speirs apart. Her ST15M chattered mutely in the vacuum as Joanne used her exoskeleton to tear through robotic bodies like aluminum foil.

The hatch to 02 SSV McAuliffe was clear. Rush keyed the lock open and then shoved Leigh inside. “Start the pre-launch sequence. I’m going back to help…”

Rush turned and saw that Speirs had shredded over half of the Wardens attacking her. One of them even set off a small explosion, but her armor, though bent and scorched, had held up. It was too late anyway.
